Some folks ride 100 miles in the August heat.
We sip. We stroll. We survive.
Hotter’n Ale is BACK for 2026 — and this year we’re keeping it simple:
Cold drinks. Good friends. Zero riddles.
No maps to follow. No mystery to solve. Just a .5K (that’s ~1,640 feet) - shorter than a Walmart parking lot pub - crawl through Downtown Wichita Falls.
Less solving.
More sipping.
This year has no maps or riddles — it's simply five costume crawls through downtown.
Red Dress Run
"Legs are Optional. Fun Isn't."

Mood: one color, zero shame. The team for anyone who owns exactly one bold red thing and has been waiting for a reason. All genders, all cuts, all in.
Palette: scarlet and crimson leading, fire-engine red, lipstick red, black as the only accent.
The look: a red dress, any red dress. Cocktail, sundress, prom regret, thrift-store miracle. Red heels optional and gloriously ill-advised. Boa, red lips, and gentlemen fully committing all score.
Do commit head to toe.
Don't show up in a red t-shirt and call it a look.
You nailed it if a stranger asks where you got it.
Limited to 35 Entrants
Santa Con
"Ho! Ho! Ho! Don't Ask Any Questions."

Mood: Christmas has no season and no explanation. It is August, you are in a full Santa suit, and nobody gets to ask why.
Palette: Santa red and white trim, black belt, a wink of gold buckle.
The look: full Santa, or the greatest hits, hat, beard, red coat. Mrs. Claus, elves, and reindeer all count. Lazy, fancy, and off-duty Santas welcome.
Do keep the beard on all night, it is a team challenge.
Don't overheat, hydrate under the velvet.
You nailed it if a downtown child is left with real questions.
Limited to 35 Entrants
Pajama Crawl
"Some Came to Sleep. Some Came to Slay."

Mood: comfort as a power move. Half the team dressed for bed, half dressed to steal the night, the best of them doing both at once.
Palette: soft pastels against bold cartoon prints, sheer satin, a smoking jacket - whatever the pajamas already are.
The look: pajamas, robes, slippers, onesies, eye masks, bonnets. A pillow is a valid accessory. House shoes you can actually walk a half kilometer in.
Do go full sleepover.
Don't sleep in the nude
You nailed it if you look ready for bed and a night out in the same outfit.
Limited to 35 Entrants
Roper Romp
"More Muumuu. More Mayhem."

Mood: a 1977 sitcom landlord reunion. This is Three's Company, and everyone is Mr. or Mrs. Roper. If someone insists on being Larry Dallas, fine, there is always one.
Palette: loud florals, avocado green, harvest gold, burnt orange, the whole decade.
The look: Mrs. Roper in a muumuu or caftan, stacked beads, a curly wig or curlers, cat-eye glasses. Mr. Roper in a cardigan, high-waisted slacks, and a permanent grumble. Larry Dallas in an open polyester shirt and a gold chain.
Do layer the beads and lean all the way in.
Don't overthink it, grandma's closet is a full costume shop.
You nailed it if you look ready to complain about the rent.
Limited to 35 Entrants
Country Club
"Champagne Taste. Domestic Beer Budget."
VLP team (Very Lazy People).
Rides the Trolley - for when 0.5k is too much to walk.

Mood: old money cosplay and effortless superiority. The VLP team, the Very Lazy People, too refined to walk a half kilometer, so they ride the Downtown Trolley and wave at everyone else.
Palette: navy, crisp white, kelly green, pastel pink, country-club everything.
The look: popped-collar polos, a sweater draped over the shoulders and never worn, visors, tennis whites, pearls, boat shoes, a found blazer, a golf glove for no reason.
Do pop the collar and drape the sweater.
Don't break a sweat, you have a trolley for that.
You nailed it if you look like you use summer as a verb.
