Syd Litteken, Board Member

Aug 21, 2020

Architect and general contracter, Syd Litteken, joined the Downtown Wichita Falls Development Board of Directors in 2013. He wanted to get involved to help with building/street restoration and bring life back to the downtown district. His expertise and advice has been useful when it came to the Zales restoration project, Farmers Market renovations, and the purchase of 709 Indiana Avenue. Syd is not afraid to roll up his sleeves and jump into projects when asked. See below when we had a board clean up day before putting the Zales building up for sale.

It is known that when we have meetings we tend to tell Syd the meeting time is 15 minutes before the actual start of the meeting and he has received many rounds of applauds for making it to meetings early. Doesn’t everybody have someone like that in their life? He is also one of our master watermelon slicers when it comes to helping out during Watermelon Fest at the Farmers Market. Syd has also volunteered for many St. Patrick’s Day Festivals and Cajun Fests with logistics and working with vendors.

Looking towards the future Syd sees the downtown district continuing to revitalize and grow into a totally walkable and complete economical entertainment district for North Texas and South Central United States.
